MASTIHA
Mastic is a material that comes from mixing amber shavings and Bakelite. It is an attempt to imitate Amber but with greater durability. Mastics were usually made in Egypt, Turkey, Persia and Syria. They are of great value due to their antiquity since they date back to around 1940-1950, later the method of their manufacture changed. In recent years, new cut Mastic beads have been created again with great success.
They took their name from the Arabic "MISTEKA" because after the beads were heated during playing, the beads gave off the aroma of mastic.
